When it comes to marketing, much of it is successful due to your mind picking up on brands’ tactics unconsciously. When humans make decisions, they are usually making these decisions based on predictions. Our brain does this through the release dopamine. Dopamine has a close correlation with the opioid system in our body that produces pleasurable sensation. Humans plan future behavior based on present feelings. If it feels more rewarding, the more likely we are to engage with the activity. So, in a way, marketers sell what it means to “feel good.”
Let’s dive a little deeper.
Humans Plan Future Behavior
Humans connect a present action/experience with a memory or past experiences, to plan future behavior. If you make sure that their past experience with your brand is a positive one, associating with your brand again will be a no-brainer.
Brands Reside in Our Brains
Brands activate unconscious thoughts and beliefs. For example, some people associative the croc brand with cheesiness. Or some people associate Yeezy’s with coolness and money. When you are working to build your brand, it’s important to note how you want others to unconsciously see your brand. Through your marketing strategies, you’ll be able to to control your brand image.
Brands Are Learned Behaviors
Brands save us mental energy when it comes to making decisions. If your brand is well-known and has a good reputation, consumers will easily choose you over competitors without giving it a second thought. These types of decisions become second-nature where they constantly pick your brand over and over again.
Final Thoughts
When you’re building your brand, it’s important to keep these concepts in mind in order to keep scaling it. Once you reach your consumers’ unconscious mind in a positive way, then you’ll be able crush the competition.
